Who remembers the demolition of the Hudson’s Building? In contrast to the ruin porn that fetishizes Detroit’s failures, this catalog of demolished fragments celebrates and reimagines the buildings as animated vignettes and recollections.
The
research examines selected buildings in Detroit, Michigan that have been
demolished since 1970 in order to create a live visual database that documents
and tracks the City’s progression as it enters an energized phase of new
development.
The project was awarded a 2019-2020 USC Faculty Research Grant.
