After a long career under compression, these columns have entered retirement. They ease out of their rigid posture, retreat to sunshine, and explore  less supportive hobbies. They are currently studying ikebana, the refined Japanese art of floral arrangement that aims to bring new life to cut flowers. Inspired by the unfamiliar yet expressive compositions, the retired columns slip, slump, stretch and snuggle to find their own balanced configurations.
